Tips for a successful CPT application:

1. Know the name and email of your academic adviser. They must be listed as the Approver on the CPT application form in the International Student Portal.

2. Apply no earlier than thirty days before the start of the term and no later than fourteen weekdays before the start of the term.  University and personal holidays may affect the processing time. Plan accordingly.

3. Submit your application in the International Student Portal only when all documents needed for the application are uploaded and you have registered for the proper CPT course.

4. Check the status of your application in the ISP and your email to see if clarification is needed.

5. The status of your application is in the Ongoing Request area of the ISP Student Center. If it says 'Clarification Requested' or 'Draft' you are able to click on the request. You can then delete or add text or documents. Be sure to click SUBMIT so that the CGL staff is notified of your additional information.

6. The Cooperative Learning Agreement always requires your employer's signature. Use apps like DocuSign or Adobe to put an image of a signature or digitally sign the document. Alternatively, ask your employer to print and sign the document and send a pdf or jpeg directly to you.

7. Review the Cooperative Learning Agreement before you interview with an employer. Some employers refuse to sign it. Your CPT application cannot proceed without it.
